Daniel Moya López holds a PhD in Communication from the University of Seville, the University of Málaga, the University of Cádiz and the University of Huelva. He holds a degree in Journalism and a Master’s degree in Advanced Historical Studies from the University of Seville. In 2022 he defended his doctoral thesis “Power and elites in the Spanish Transition and democratic consolidation. Analysis from the media structure (1975-1989)”, qualified with outstanding cum laude. In 2019 he received the 1st International Prize for the best Master’s Thesis from the Asociación de Historiadores de la Comunicación (AsHisCom).
Since 2021 he has been vice-president of the Laboratorio de Estudios en Comunicación (Ladecom) and Editorial Secretary of the Revista Internacional de Historia de la Comunicación (RIHC). His line of research combines studies in the Structure of Information and the History of Journalism, although he has also studied power relations in the cultural industries of sport. This has resulted in articles published in high impact journals such as Investigaciones de Historia Económica, Revista Mediterránea de Comunicación or EPTIC. He has been a member of the team of the research project Historia Crítica del Periodismo Andaluz (HICPAN), financed with European and Andalusian funds. He has carried out several international research stays in Colombia.
