Energy-stable linear schemes for polymer-solvent phase field models for studying phase separation in polymer solutions
Resumen
In this talk I will present new linear energy-stable numerical schemes for the numerical simulation of complex polymer-solvent mixtures. In particular, the mathematical model considered is the thermodynamically consistent one proposed by Zhou et al. [1] which consists on a modified Cahn-Hilliard equation that describes the dynamics of the interface that separates polymer and solvent phases, together with the Oldroyd-B equations for the hydrodynamics of polymeric mixtures. The main contribution of this work is the derivation of numerical schemes that are energy dissipative and efficient in time. To this end I will present the resultant linear time discrete schemes and discuss their properties.
This contribution is based on joint work with Paul J. Strasser, Maria Lukácovŕ-Medvid'ová (Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, Germany) and Burkhard Dünweg (Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research, Mainz, Germany).
