ARCHAEOLOGICAL RESOURCE MANAGEMENT IN GREAT BRITAIAN (Pages 9-18)
GILBERTO RODRÍGUEZ GONZÁLEZ

This paper is intended as a general overview of British management archaeology, describing the different bodies involved in Archaeological Resource Management and discussing the relevance of their experience for Spanish archaeology. On the one hand, it deals with the public sector involved in the protection and management of the archaeological heritage (English Heritage, Royal Commission, Local Authorities). On the other hand, it reviews the private bodies (Units, consultants, etc.) and professional institutions (Institute of Field Archaeologists, Council for British Archaeology), in charge of archaeological management.

THE CABO BUSTO SITE (VALDES, ASTURIAS). A MIDDLE PLEISTOCENE SEQUENCE IN THE NORTH OF THE IBERIAN PENINSULA (Pages 19-43)
JOSE ADOLFO RODRÍGUEZ ASENSIO

The Cape Busto site in the municipality of Valdés in Asturias, under excavation since 1992, shows a stratigraphic sequence which spans from the Middle Pleistocene Period to the Würm Glaciation. From a cultural perspective, this site provides interesting evidence for the reconstruction of the first inhabitants of Asturias whose arrival to these lands, after these investigations, must now be placed at an earlier stage. The two cultural moments represented in this deposit are the middle Pleistocene Period and the upper Acheulian.

ABSOLUTE CHRONOLOGY OF WESTERN ANDALUSIA DURING THE RECENT PREHISTORY (Pages 45-86)
ALFREDO MEDEROS MARTÍN

This paper discusses absolute calendar chronology of the Late Prehistory in Westem Andalusia (including the provinces of Málaga, Córdoba, Sevilla, Cádiz y Huelva). The evidence available for each archaeological site is discussed, and an attempt is made to establish a provisional chronological sequence between the Early Neolithic and the beginning of the Phoenician colonization.

THE EMERGENCE OF SEVILLE (Pages 87-100)
MANUEL PELLICER CATALÁN

The ancient mouth of the Guadalquivir river was intensely inhabited during the Late Prehistory. People of the area moved to the valley and founded the city of Seville in the First Iron Age. The Phoenician trade was the cause of that emergence.

THE TRANSITION TO IRON AGE IN THE IBERIAN SOUTHWEST. THE PROBLEM OF THE CELTICI (Pages 101-114)
JUAN AURELIO Pérez MACÍAS

During the Second Iron Age one part of the Iberian Southwest was colonized by the Celtici, who are clearly distinguishable from the Turdetani of the Gualdalquivir Valley. This paper affirms that the Celtici penetrated the Baeturia Celtica from the Spanish central plateau, taking advantage of the de-population of the region documented since the Orientalizing Period.

VI a.C.

PUNIC FISHING INDUSTRIES IN CADIZ: A STATE OF ART AND NEW RESEARCH PERSPECTIVES (Pages 133-165)
GREGORIO DE FRUTOS REYES & ÁNGEL MUÑOZ VICENTE

In this paper, we present the results of recent investigations on the economy of Protohistoric Cádiz. Relevant evidence dates back the origins of the industrial activities related to fishing resources to, at least, the VIth century BC. On the other hand, we attempt to accomplish a historical-evolutionary analysis in the perspective of the production and commerce. We propose various hypotheses and new positions based on literary sources as well as on archaeological data gathered in the last fifteen years.

GRAFITO PALEOHISPÁNICO HALLADO EN EL DEPÓSITO DE GARVÁO (OURIQUE, BEJA) (Páginas 167-170)
JOSÉ A. CORREA

PALEO-HISPANIC INSCRIPTION FOUND IN GARVÁO (OURIQUEM, BEJA, PORTUGAL) (Pages 167-170)
JOSÉ A. CORREA

The most probable transcription of this inscription written in SW (or Tartessian) script found in Garváo (Ourique, Beja, Portugal) is aiot’ii. lt is a possible personal name related to others which are very well known in the Celtiberian area (Aio, Aius, etc.). This inscription suggests the maintenance of the indigenous system of writing in the Second Iron Age in the South West of the Iberian Peninsula.

DEFINICIÓN DE DOS NUEVOS TIPOS DE ÁNFORAS GADITANAS: PUERTO REAL 1 Y 2 (Páginas 197-207)
ENRIQUE García Vargas Y MARIA LUISA LAVADO FLORIDO

Included till now in other morphological groups, exemplars of the PR 1 and PR 2 types were produced between the late II and the early III centuries. They transported some kind of fish sauce, and were sent out to fish-sauce factories located on the southern side of the Gibraltar Strait.
